This innovative, “3-D” rack features variable-position slots for microcentrifuge tubes in two levels. The bench-top rack holds up to 48 conical microcentrifuge tubes that can be placed in either a forward, backward, or upright position. This enables each tube to be tilted backwards or forwards to indicate that liquid has been added or a manipulation, such as mixing, has taken place. Tilting a tube forward also may aid in the additon or removal of its contents. The rack has two rows of 12 holes, accommodating two tubes per angled section. This allows the pairing of two sets of tubes whose contents need to be mixed. Each tube section has alphanumerics for sample identification. The ABS rack has a tolerated temperature range of -40 to +85°C (-40 to +185°F) and cannot be autoclaved.
